Amy Wang – Saturday transcript

Q: You feel pretty good about today?

A: “Yeah, I almost lost concentration because of the heat but I focused really hard throughout the round and I think I stayed strong so I’m happy about my round.”

Q: Your first professional win came at the Ladies Masters on the Gold Coast in Australia. Does this hold special significance to potentially win another big Australian event?

A: “It would be great. Every tournament is special. I’m going to do my best out there tomorrow.”

Q: What was working so well for you out there today?

A: “I think I hit it sollid but mostly I had good speed on the green and I think that helped a lot because it’s playing really hard around the greens.”

Q: Is it any different chasing Lydia Ko than maybe another leader just knowing she’s not going to come back to the field?

A: “Whoever is leading the tournament, they are a pretty good player so I’ve got to do a better job tomorrow and not make too may mistakes.”

Q: What does it mean to play in Australia where you’ve spent so much time?

A: I stayed here for three years when I was a high school student and it’s so good to be back. I’m enjoying it this week, it feels comfortable.”

Q: Did you have hopes of winning this tournament when you were living in Australia?

A: “Yeah of course. It’s the Australian Open, it’s the biggest tournament here so I’ve always wanted to play well.”

Q: Good to be back in contention?

A: “Yeah, I feel a little bit nervous but I’m going to enjoy this feeling.”

Q: What does it feel like going into Sunday when you’re in contention?

A: “Maybe different but I’m trying to not think too much about it.”

Q: How did you handle the heat out there?

A: “It was so hot. I stayed under my sun umbrella as long as I could and that helped a lot.”

Q: You don’t seem nervous on the surface. Why might you feel nervous heading into tomorrow?

A: “I don’t know.”

Q: Any family here with you this week?

A: “No just by myself with my caddie but I have friends here watching me this week.”
