Anasta among mid-Amateur starters

Players will tee off on Wednesday for the Australian Men’sand Women’s Mid Amateur Championships to be played on the Open Course at Moonah Links Golf Club. Defending champion Andrew Tharle (ACT) is one of the favourites in the Men’scompetition along with four time Champion Jason Perry (Vic). NRL Player Braith Anasta (NSW) will also tee up in the Championship, and with a handy plus one handicap will also be a top contender. In the Women’s event, defending champion and two time winner Sue Wooster (Vic) will be back to defend her title, while 2011 Champion Katrina Jones (Qld) will also be in the mix. Other local contenders include Lisa Holmquest (Vic) and Kathleen Griffith (Vic). The State Teams Event played in conjunction returns, with each team represented by two males and one female. The Championships are in their seventh year, with the players sure to be challenged by the Moonah Links Open Course, the venue of the 2003 and 2005 Australian Open Championships. The event is played over 54-holes stroke play, for players aged 30 to 54 years.
