Andrew Tharle wins NSW Mid Amateur Championship

Congratulations to Andrew Tharle from Royal Canberra for winning the 2012 NSW Mid Amateur Championship. It could have been anyones day with only 2 strokes between the top 3 players in the final group of the day. Andrew Tharle from Royal Canberra was leading overnight and managed to hold until the last putt was sunk with a total score of 231, winning by one shot from Dunheved&aposs John Fearnley with a total of 232. Brendan Ellam from North Ryde was in turn only one shot behind Brendan with a total of 233. Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to Magenta Shores for hosting the event. This mornings weather has a little more bite to it for the second round of the 2012 Men&aposs NSW Mid-Amateur Chmpionship at Magenta Shores G&CC. Brendan Ellam from North Ryde GC and Michael Neaton from Rockhampton GC were the two best scores in today&aposs round wsith both shooting three over par, 75&aposs. Only one shot behind on 76 is yesterday&aposs leader, Andrew Tharle from Royal Canberra, as well as John Fearnley from Dunheved GC and Liverpool&aposs John McMiles. DAY 3 – SEEDED DRAW

Magenta Shores G&CC saw 98 players tee off this morning for the first round of the 2012 Men’sNSW Mid-Amateur Championship. It was a beautiful day with only a slight breeze out on course. The course was playing tough will the greens drying out with the wind overnight. Todays leader is Royal Canberra&aposs Andrew Tharle with a good 77 off the stick. Only one shot behind on 78 is John Fernley from Dunheaved GC. There is a five-way tie for third place on 80. LEADERBOARD

The 2012 Men’sNSW Mid-Amateur Championship is being held at Magenta Shores Golf and Country Club on Sunday 6, Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 May 2012. It is stroke play over three rounds of 18-holes. The draw for the first two days of play is random, with a seeded draw for the final round. DRAW and PLAYER INFORMATION This year a gourmet BBQ buffet dinner will be held on the Sunday evening, open to all entrants and their guests.
