J.J. Henry has won the Modified Stableford Reno Tahoe Open, holding off his final round playing partner Alexandre Rocha of Brazil who birdied his final two holes to get within one point. It was Henry s second PGA Tour win and comes six years after his first at the Buick Championship. The 37 year old Henry has often played well at the Montreaux Golf Club with several top tens listed amongst his seven previous starts in the event and in recent weeks has begun to put together several good tournaments indicating that a big week was close at hand. The new format seemed to suit Henry and, in or near the lead throughout, he held off the fast finish by the Brazilian Rocha, a prolific winner of events in South America although unable to this stage to convert that success into consistent performances on the PGA Tour. Rocha is in his third season on the PGA Tour. In a good week for South American golf, Argentine Andres Romero finished alone in third position albeit five points further back. Stuart Appleby continued his recent improvement when he finished as the leading Australian in 16th position.
