Appleby in pole position

Australian Stuart Appleby has fired a two-under-par round of 68 to take a two shot lead into the final round of the AT&T National. Appleby held a four shot lead midway through his third round but made two bogeys on the back nine, as his lead was cut to two. Korean K.J. Choi is two strokes behind Appleby, in outright second place at seven-under, while American Steve Stricker is a shot further adrift in third position. World Number One Tiger Woods is seven shots back, tied with Englishman Justin Rose and Americans Jim Furyk and Kevin Stadler at two-under-par. Behind Appleby, Mathew Goggin and Rod Pampling are the next best placed Australians. The duo share 12th place at one-under, while Robert Allenby is a shot further back at level par. Fellow Australian Aaron Baddeley is tied for 27th place at one-over, while Geoff Ogilvy and Stephen Leaney are in equal 36th place at two-over. Compatriots Peter Lonard and John Senden are well out of contention, the pair finishing their third round at four-over and seven-over respectively.
