Wil Arnold is bound for Twin Creeks this November after claiming a one-shot win in the Forbes Open on Sunday.
Arnold from Penrith Golf Club had to endure a nail-biting four-hour wait to see if his score was going to hold up after teeing off in one of the first groups out.
His two-under par score of 70 held up all day, to eventually take the title from Concord's Blade Gadd and Reid Brown of Pymble by a solitary stroke.
Thomas Heaton of The Australian and local brothers John and Steve Betland had to settle for a tie for fourth at even par 72.
Arnold credited his involvement in the Golf NSW and JNJG junior programs with his success.
"It's great to win, and (to secure) a place in the Open," Wil told the Forbes Advocate.
"I played here last year and I feel this year the course is even better now. It's a credit to the course curator and his staff," he said.
"These greens are as good as any I have played, really great.
"The hospitality shown by everyone is just as great. I'll be back next year for sure," he added.
Also celebrating are Geoffrey Walker of Young Golf Club and Adam Ferguson of Mudgee who both carded 75 to secure their spots in the Lincoln Place NSW Senior Open at Thurgoona Golf and Country Club in Late October.
One hundred and fifty-seven golfers took on the Forbes course on Sunday, a near record field for the popular event.
