Arthur & Jacobs win Junior Sand Greens at Jamestown

Junior Sand Greens Champions – Jackson Arthur (Kadina) and Charley Jacobs (Ardrossan)

Jackson Arthur (Kadina) and Charley Jacobs (Ardrossan) have taken out the boys & girls Junior Sand Greens Championships.

The Championship was played in near perfect conditions on both days, with 18 holes each day at Jamestown Golf Club.

Arthur, playing off a handicap of 2, claimed the boys championship with rounds of 74-71 (145) to finish at 5-over, 7 strokes ahead of his nearest rival Marcus Kuys (Port Augusta) who had rounds of 76 & 76 (152).

Lachlan Redden from Streaky Bay Golf Club with a playing handicap of 10, claimed the nett event with nett scores of 70, 66 (136). Jack Flavel (Glastone) was runner up.

In the Girls Championship, Jacobs claimed the title after solid rounds of 83 & 85 for a 36 hole total of 168 (22 over the card) to win by 23 strokes ahead of Barossa Valley’s Caitlin Woods 92, 99 (191).

Shakira-Ann Kuys (Port Augusta) with a nett total of 140 won the net aggregate event by 19 strokes ahead of Charlotte Tardieu (Stirling North).

Golf SA would like to acknowledge the Jamestown Golf Club for hosting the championship, in particular,  President Deb McCarthy & District Secretary Gary Lloyd for their efforts organising and coordinating the event which included 29 Championship entrants and 9 Sub Junior participants and their families.

Lloyd affectionately known as “the Bear” still holds the course record of 64 at Jamestown Golf Club, achieved 31 years ago on 31 July 1982.

Lloyd was awarded the Country Male Volunteer of the Year Award in 2012 for his wonderful contribution to Country Golf, especially to the Northern Golfing Community.
