Atze wins Country Championship

2011 Golf SA Country Championship winner Tim Atze Pinaroo&aposs Tim Atze has won the 2011 Country Championship, defeating Mt Gambier&aposs Will Somerfield 3&2 in the matchplay final at Kooyonga Golf Club. In a tightly fought contest, Atze played some consistent golf to keep his nose ahead in the contest, taking the title on the 16th hole after the match had reached dormie. Earlier in the day Atze had reached the final with a 3&2 over Mt Gambier&aposs Anthony Williams, while Somerfield had reached the final courtesy of a 19th hole victory over Barossa Valley&aposs Zak Fuller. Today&aposs victory was Atze&aposs third win in the SA Country Championship. Kooyonga also played host to the Fourball stableford competition on the final day of Country Week, which was won by the Swan Reach pairing of Peter Johns and Wayne Collins who carded a solid 43 points. Runners up in the Fourball were Pinaroo&aposs Barry Atze and Richard Angel on 41 points.
