#AusAm – NSW Davis & Shin advance to quarter final

Another 44 degree day in Adelaide at the Australian Amateur Championships was tough going for the NSW boys and girls. The boys played two matches and the girls one. Cameron Davis and Shelly Shin are through to the quarter finals tomorrow. Cameron will play local hero and South Australia&aposs number one amateur Anthony Murdaca, while Shelly plays Luna Sobron from Spain. Cameron was impressive in defeating fellow New South Welshman Matt Whittenberg in the morning 3/1, and then fellow national squad member Taylor MacDonald 2/1 in the afternoon. Shelly was three up through twelve holes until a late charge from her local opponent with huge crowd support nearly pipped her. Shelly won one up. Jordan Zunic won on the 22nd hole in the morning after his opponent hit the top of the flagstick and bounced off the green. Jordan played with supreme courage in the afternoon being two down with four to play, only to miss a five foot putt on the 18th to take it to extra holes. Grant booth had an enthralling match – he had numerous great chances to win, eventually succumbing on the 22nd hole to American Max Buckley. His ball striking was world class and he should be very proud of his efforts. Celina Yuan was out driven by 80 metres, but only lost on the last hole. Great results and still holding hope for a NSW victor. Click link to view results
