Aussie amateur update

By Alistair Hogg Scott Arnold came outright second in the St Andrews Links Trophy with scores of 67 72 69 68 to be 12-under the card. The Australian was in superb form and can be exceptionally proud of his performance at the Home of Golf considering the winner, Llewellyn Matthews, was forced to shoot a tournament record 15-under to overcome Arnold. The next-best Australian was National Squad newcomer Matthew Griffin who was tied for 12th at three-under, Australian Amateur Champion Rohan Blizard finished T27 at one-over and Queenslander Andrew Dodt who shot five-over to finish in a share of 36th position. Across the pond, Ray Beaufils was the best Aussie at the Sunnehanna Amateur in Pennsylvania. The 20-year old carded a four-over for the tournament to finish equal 14th. Countryman Rudi Bezuidenhout and Michael Foster were four strokes back in a tie for 32nd while Aaron Pike finished in equal-58th. Next up for the boys in the US is the Monroe Invitational from June 13 in New York. The Australian contingent in the UK will make their way to Lancashire to prepare for the British Amateur which commences on June 18. The girls event gets underway on Tuesday however with Kate Combes, Emma Bennett and Bree Arthur headlining the Aussie charge.
