Aussie amateurs set for Sahalee Championship

LIVE SCORING Australians Brady Watt, Callan O&aposReilly, Brett Drewitt, James Gibellini, Jordan Zunic, Nathan Holman and Cameron Jones are among an impressive field of world-class talent will converge on the Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Washington for the Sahalee Players Championship, to be played from July 1-3, 2013. The championship will be contested over 72 holes of stroke play, with 36 holes being played the first day, 18 the second, and 18 on the third and final day. Last year&aposs championship saw Kevin Penner outlast Chris Williams and Ben Geyer in a three-way one-hole playoff to claim the title. Past champions of this prestigious amateur championship include Kyle Stanley, Casey Martin, Peter Uihlein, Nick Taylor, Daniel Summerhays, Ryan Moore, Chris Williams, Arron Oberholser and Jason Gore, among others. Also in the field are Kiwis Blair Riordan, Compton Pikari and Josh Munn. Tournament Director, Mike Jonson said, “The Sahalee Players Championship provides the Northwest with the opportunity each year to witness the performance of some of the world&aposs finest amateur players.” This year will mark the 20th installment of the Sahalee Players Championship. In addition to the U.S. Senior Open, which was won by Bernhard Langer, Sahalee also tested the world&aposs best when it hosted the 1998 PGA Championship, won by Vijay Singh, and the 2002 World Golf Championships-NEC Invitational, won by Craig Parry.
