Aussie duo in touch

Australian duo Mitchell Brown and Neven Basic are just one shot from the lead after the opening round of the Taiwan Masters. The pair shot opening rounds of 69 to finish the day at three-under, just one stroke adrift of joint leaders Wisut Artjanawat of Thailand and local golfer Sung Mao-chang. Wisut was particularly pleased with his round and is hoping to continue his good form for the remainder of the tournament. “I was driving it really well. I am quite confident with my short game which also helped me shoot a good score today,” Wisut said. “I&aposm happy to be tied on top with Sung. It feels like I&aposm competing at home when I am here because the Thai players have a special friendship with the Chinese Taipei golfers.” “Lin Wen-tang won the Asian Tour International in Thailand and we were all very happy for him. So I hope a Thai player will win over here this week.” Of the other Australians competing, David Gleeson fired a one-under round of 71, while compatriots Brad Kennedy, Richard Moir, Ashley Hall, Marcus Both and Adam Le Vesconte were a shot further back after opening rounds of 72.
