Australian Steven Jones and Chinese pair Wen-chong Liang and Hao Yuan share the lead after the opening day of the Nanshan China Masters. The trio all shot three-under rounds of 68 on Thursday in the OneAsia event at the Nanshan International Golf Club, giving them a one-shot lead ahead of a group of four players tied for fourth. Jones played a terrific round, shooting three birdies in his blemish-free day while Liang was also consistent, shooting one birdie and one eagle for the day. Yuan was more erratic, hitting five birdies all of which came in a hot streak from holes eight to 14 and two bogeys. Aussie duo Aaron Townsend and Jamie Arnold and South Korean pair Young-han Song and Jeung-hun Wang are all one shot behind the leading group after shooting scores of 69. Both South Koreans hit four birdies and two bogeys in Song&aposs case his errors came from his first two holes while Townsend and Arnold were both composed in calm and efficient rounds of golf. A group of eight players including Australian quintet Chris Campbell, Daniel Fox, David McKendrick, Ryan Haller and Scott Laycock are all tied for eighth at one under, two shots off the pace. Laycock, who lost the 2011 event in a four-way playoff to South Korean Kim Bi-o, will be hopeful of going one better at the tournament this year. Leigh Daegan, Clint Rice and Terry Pilkadaris also made an encouraging start with even-par rounds of 71.
