Aussie Park well placed in Malaysia

Australian Unho Park was just one shot off the lead in second position during the first round of the Iskandar Johor Open in Malaysia before play was abandoned due to inclement weather on Thursday. Park was one of the lucky ones to complete his 18 holes and finished up with a faultless seven-under-par 65 that featured seven birdies, including three in a row between the fifth and seventh holes. American David Lipsky is the overnight leader on eight under after 16 blemish-free holes at the Horizon Hills Golf and Country Club in the city of Johor Bahru. Park&aposs compatriot Darren Beck isn&apost too far behind either in a share of fourth position on five under after 17 holes. Lipsky&aposs countryman Kevin Na is outright third on six under. Beck is level with Filipino Angelo Que, India&aposs SSP Chowrasia and South African Peter Karmis. Wade Ormsby, Marcus Fraser, Andrew Dodt, Scott Barr, David Gleeson and Scott Hend are the next best Australians on one under. Ormsby is the only one of that group who has completed his first round. Play will resume at 7.15am (local time) on Friday.
