Aussie trio book ticket to Stage 2 LPGA Q-School

National Squad member Breanna Elliott, former Australian Amateur champion Justine Lee and Victorian Jody Fleming have all progressed to the second stage of LPGA Qualifying School in October. Lee finished with rounds of 71-74-73-69 to be in a tie for 21st place at 1-under par while Elliott, who will represent Australia later this month at the World Amateur Team Championships in Turkey, finished with 70-76-69-73 to be a stroke back at even par in 23rd place. Jody Fleming made it through on the number at 6-over following rounds of 74-74-74-72. Whitney Hillier, who will also represent Australia in Turkey, narrowly missed qualifying by one stroke after a tough final round. The top-60 players and ties following four rounds of play advance into the Qualifying Stage II. That 72-hole event will be held October 9-12, at Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Florida. The top 70 and ties from Stage II will advance into the final Qualifying Tournament Stage III. The final Stage III Q-school will be contested over 90 holes Nov. 28 through Dec. 2, on both the Champions and Legends courses at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida. Top finishers in the final stage will earn 2012 LPGA membership (total number of cards TBD) and all others who make the cut will receive Symetra Tour status.
