Aussie trio on outside looking in

The Australian trio endured frustrating days at a critical stage today with just one round left in the European Tour’s Q-School.

Perth’s Daniel Fox fired a 73 to sit at four under, 10 shots adrift of Italian veteran and new leader of the six-round marathon Edoardo Molinari, who took a firm grip on a European Tour card with a fine 67 at the PGA Catalunya Resort in Spain.

With one round to play before the top 25 and ties will seal their places on the 2017 Tour, Fox sits in T31, just one stroke outside the magical group who’ll advance.

Sadly the path to a card is no longer as clear for Tasmanian Ryan McCarthy and Victorian Ben Eccles who are locked in a group at one over after rounds of 75 and 74, respectively.

All three are guaranteed a Challenge Tour card next year after making the four-round cut a day earlier.
