The Golf Australia team has dominated qualifying for the New Zealand Women’s Senior Championship match play phase.
Among a host of Australians in the field at Waihi Golf Club, near Tauranga on the North Island, the top four placegetters from the 2016 Australian Women’s Senior Amateur Championship are again faring well.
Helen Pascoe, Kim Burke, Jacqui Morgan and Sylvia Donohue, all supported by GA for their results as the final four from the national title in Ballarat last October, qualified first, second, third and eighth, respectively for Wednesday’s start to the match play phase.
Pascoe was particularly impressive, firing a two-over 74 to lead home her compatriots Burke and Morgan by two strokes. Donohoe was a further three strokes adrift in eighth place.
Match play begins on the picturesque parkland course on Wednesday morning.
