Aussies Abroad Weekly Wrap: Senden shows his class

Star of the show: In an incredibly tough US Open, John Senden went into Sunday&aposs final round at the Olympic Club tied for eighth and four shots off the lead. After six consecutive pars, the 41-year-old hit a birdie on the seventh hole to remain an outside chance of victory and while he followed that with four bogeys, Senden claimed his best-ever result at the tournament – tied for 10th at five over. Breakout of the week: Alistair Presnell ended up nine-over overall at the US Open, ahead of three of the top five players in the world in a tie for 29th. And the 33-year-old was surely satisfied with his debut appearance at a major championship. Presnell put together par scores in both his opening and closing rounds at the Olympic Club. Shot of the week: Adam Scott was Australia&aposs second-best performer at the US Open, stringing together three-straight par scores to finish five strokes behind winner Webb Simpson. Scott was obviously hitting the ball well and you can examine his swing here. Tweet of the week: @JohnSendenGolf – Saw Olympic for the first time today. Just a majestic course. True @usopengolf test. Firm and fast. Exciting week. #drama. What lies ahead: The PGA Tour heads to Connecticut this week for the Travelers Championship and Aaron Baddeley heads a group of Aussies that will be in action at TPC River Highlands. The LPGA Tour will be in Canada for the inaugural Manulife Financial LPGA Classic.
