The Tour makes its final Californian stop of the West Coast swing for the Northern Trust Open where Phil Mickleson is the defending champion. He’s had a rough start to the year so far and retaining his trophy here would be a marked improvement on recent performances. Nearly a dozen Australians head into the field with most looking to kick-start 2009 in winning fashion. Geoff Ogilvy returns after a week s rest and Mathew Goggin will hope his consistency continues despite fading late on at the Buick Invitational. James Nitties, Aaron Baddeley, Nathan Green, Robert Allenby, Stuart Appleby, Nick O&aposHern, John Senden, Peter Lonard and Steve Elkington are the other Australians in the field with Allenby looking to start his year in the kind of form that made him one of the most consistent players on the Tour in 2008. More than half of the world s top 50 ranked players will be in the field in California with Ireland s Padraig Harrington lurking- he’s started this event twice and finished in the top 10 both times. PGA EUROPEAN TOUR Johnnie Walker Classic, The Vines Resort and Country Club, Perth. The few players in the world s top 30 who aren t playing the Northern Trust will be in Perth for the Johnnie Walker Classic. Greg Norman is the star attraction among a host of Australians playing on home soil. The international attractions are headlined by the likes of Anthony Kim, Camilo Villegas, Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter and Abu Dhabi Championship winner Paul Casey. National Squad player Jason Scrivener and Australian Open headline Stephen Dartnall start in their home state. PGA CHAMPIONS TOUR The ACE Group Classic, TPC Treviso Bay, Naples, Florida. The champions step out for their fourth tournament of the season at The ACE Group Classic in Florida. Scott Hoch is the defending champion in a field which includes Fred Funk, Wayne Grady, Bernhard Langer, Sandy Lyle, Larry Mize, Gary Player, Nick Price, Curtis Strange and Lee Trevino. Hoch won in a play-off last year.
