Aussies Around The World: Weekend Review

By Alistair Hogg PGA TOUR Despite leading throughout most of the tournament, Nathan Green was out-sprinted down the stretch by American Jonathan Byrd. Green posted an even-par final round for a total of 15-under, but it was three strokes shy of Byrd&aposs 18-under which included final rounds of 65 and 66. Michael Sim went three-under on the final day to post a 12-under while Stephen Leaney was one stroke back after a 68 on Sunday. PGA Tour debutant and former National Squad member Bronson LaCassie showed very promising signs finishing at three-under. The Queenslander was five under through two rounds but fell off the pace, however showed plenty of signs than he has a very bright future. Bowditch carded a tournament best 66 on Sunday to jump up the leaderboard, finishing just four shots behind winner Daniel Summerhays. Last week&aposs winner, Jason Day, also finished at two-under while fellow Aussie David McKenzie was a further stroke back. Matthew Millar was the best at three-over, a massive 17 strokes behind Phil Mickelson and Gregory Havret. Peter O&aposMalley and Wade Ormsby came in at four-over but it was Havret that would leave the spoils after a sudden-death win over his American foe. LPGA TOUR Although representing a small Australian field, Rachel Hetherington and Katherine Hull did their nation proud at the Jamie Farr Owens Classic in Ohio this week. The pair finished at two-under in a share of 21st position. Hetherington shot consistent rounds of 70 71 71 70 while Hull posted 71 72 71 and a final round 68. Se Ri Pak took the title at an incredible 17-under three strokes ahead of American Morgan Pressel.
