Aussies Around The World: Weekend Review

EUROPEAN TOUR: Barclays Singapore Open, Sentosa Golf Club, Singapore Scott Hend and Adam Scott finished at 8-under par to share third place at the rain-affected Barclays Singapore Open. Scott closed with rounds of 65 and 68 to move up from 11th on the leaderboard into the top three. Marcus Both and Andrew Dodt finished in a tie for 9th place at 5-under par. England&aposs Ian Poulter saw a five stroke lead wiped away early in the third round but held on to win by 1 stroke from China&aposs Wen-Chong Liang. Richard Green finished tied for 31st at 1-under par. Tony Carolan, Terry Pilkadaris, Scott Barr and Rod Pampling also made the cut. FINAL RESULTS- Barclays Singapore Open EUROPEAN TOUR: Volvo World Match Play Championship, Finca Cortesin Golf Club, Casares, Spain Australia&aposs Robert Allenby finished in third place at the Volvo World Match Play Championship in Spain. Allenby lost 5&4 to American Anthony Kim and played in the third-place play-off match against Masters champion Angel Cabrera. Allenby defeated Cabrera 1up after 9 holes. Scott Strange was the only other Australian to qualify for the championship but did not progress past the group stage. FINAL RESULTS- Volvo World Match Play Championship LPGA TOUR: Hana-Bank Kolon Championship, Ocean Course, SKY 72 Golf Club, Incheon, South Korea. World Number 21 Lindsey Wright finished in a tie for 25th as the highest placed Aussie in South Korea. After a difficult second round 79, Wright improved by 10 strokes to finish with a 69 in the final round. Fellow Australian Katherine Hull finished in a tie for 37th at 2-over par. South Korea&aposs Na-Yeon Choi won by one stroke from Taiwan&aposs Yani Tseng. It was Choi&aposs second victory in four starts after her win at the Samsung World Championship in September. FINAL RESULTS- Hana Bank Kolon Championship LADIES EUROPEAN TOUR: Suzhou Taihu Ladies Open, Suzhou Taihu International Golf Club, Suzhou, China. Australia&aposs Frances Bondad was the highest placed Australian at the Suzhou Taihu Ladies Open near Shanghai. Bondad finished in a tie for 5th place at 1-under par for the tournament after rounds of 70-70-75. Fellow ALPG member Rebecca Coakley also finished at 1-under par. Little known South Korean Suh Bo-Mi claimed a one stroke victory. Bronwyn Mullins-Lane continued her recent run of good form with a final round even par 72 seeing her jump from 44th into a tie for 19th. Karen Lunn, Anna Rawson (T33) and Nicole Montgomery (T41) also made the cut. PGA TOUR: Viking Classic, Annandale Golf Club, Mississippi. The Viking Classic was cancelled as the course became unplayable due to continuous rain in the area during the week. The tournament will not be rescheduled.
