Aussies eliminated from US Amateur

West Australian Rick Kulacz battled his way to a second round two-over par but was eliminated from the US Amateur at The Olympic Club in San Francisco. The 22-year old went around in 72, three strokes better than his opening round and sits at a combined total of seven over; right on the cut-line. Unfortunately for Kulacz, he was eliminated in a playoff for the six remain spots when pitted against the 15 other players also tied at seven-over. Compatriot Jamie Arnold also missed out, shooting a six-over 76, leaving his combined score at 13-over and too far back in the field to survive. Despite a strong start which included seven straight pars on the front nine, Arnold was unable to find red digits on what is proving a tough layout to buy a birdie.
