While the golfing world was watching Tiger Woods win his fifth green jacket at The Masters, Victorian products Ryan Ruffels and James Marchesani finished the week with solid performances in Buenos Aires and China.

Ruffels, 20, produced four sub-par rounds in Argentina but fell tantalisingly short of his maiden win on the PGA Latinoamerica Tour losing to Andres Echavarria on the second playoff hole. With a pair of second place performances from the season’s opening two events, he finds himself third on the Order of Merit.

Meanwhile, Marchesani finished outright fifth in Haikou with brilliant rounds of 69-70-70-72 to move into 10th spot on the China Order of Merit.

After sharing the midway lead at The Masters, Jason Day and Adam Scott were in prime position heading into the weekend. But Australia will have to wait another year for a chance at a second green jacket as the pair fell away in round three for T5 and T18 finishes respectively.
