Aussies On Tour: July 8

p;

We were probably due to draw breath on the whole Aussies with silverware thing, even if we didn’t really want to.

After a red-letter June for Australian golfers, we dialled it back a notch this past week with a handful in contention again – read Peter O’Malley in Switzerland, briefly Wade Ormsby in Ireland and David Bransdon in Japan.

But our #AussieOfTheWeek honour, for the third time this year, goes to Ryan Ruffels.

The young Victorian, with the PGA Tour LatinoAmerica on a winter sabbatical, took his third runner-up for the year, this time on the Mackenzie Tour in Windsor, Canada, where he was agonisingly close to a playoff, missing a birdie putt on the last green.

Spare a thought, too, for Sydneysider Jamie Arnold, who endured a double-bogey early in his final round on the Korn Ferry Tour in New York, then only missed his playoff by two shots in a share of sixth.

Another shout to Karis Davidson who just keeps on keeping on in Japan, again finishing T14 in her second season as a pro.
