Aussies progress to next round of LET qualifying

Four Australians have successfully negotiated the first round of Ladies European Tour Qualifying including former National Squad members Frances Bondad and Kate Combes. Held at Le Fonti Golf Club in Italy, the 54-Hole qualifier culled the field to 28 for final qualifying at the same venue next weekend. Bondad was impressive throughout her three rounds, carding a five-under to finish in a share of ninth place. Bronwyn Mullins-Lane also had a five-under which included a superb second round 66 to all but set up her safe passage through to next week. Combes was just one stroke back in a share of 15th place after her rounds of 70 73 and 69 while Belinda Kerr&aposs combined total of three-under was enough to see her through to the next round. Unfortunately for Australia, Emily Tankey, Polly Travica, Rosemary McDonald, Marousa Polias and Helen Oh were unsuccessful in this stage of qualifying. From the LET: Stage two of Final Qualifying will take place from Tuesday 21 until Friday 26 October over 72 holes stroke play. There will be a cut to the leading 50 players and ties after 54 holes and the leading 30 players will receive category 8 membership of the Ladies European Tour, which will give them starts in most full field tournaments. Those players who finish in positions 31-50 and ties will receive membership in category 10b, with some playing restrictions.
