Aussies start well in Japan

Tournament debutant Australia sits in equal-fourth after the opening round of the Toyota World Junior Teams Championship in Japan. Matthew Giles was the best of the Aussies shooting a 69 while Queenslander Daniel Nisbet carded a 70 to leave the Australians in a competitive position tied with Canada and New Zealand. Sweden leads the championship after firing a combined 12-under 201 led by a tournament-best 65 from Jesper Kennegard and 68&aposs from Bjorn Akesson and Pontus Widegren. A respectable eight-under from Norway leaves the defending champ in outright second. Round two commences Wednesday afternoon (AEST).
