Aussies start well

Australian Andrew Bonhomme has made an excellent start to the PGA Tour Q-School second stage event in Texas. Bonhomme shot a five-under par round of 67 to be in a tie for the lead with Casey Devoll after the opening round at the Lantana Golf Club. Roughly the top 20 players from this tournament and the one in California will join the qualifiers from last week&aposs four tournaments in the final stage. David Lutterus is also well placed, shooting a two-under par 70 to be in a tie for 10th place after the opening round. The other two Aussies in the field, Aaron Townsend (55th place) and Steven Bowditch (74th) will have to improve significantly if they are to qualify. At the tournament in California, Richard Lee has made a great start to be in a tie for third place at five-under par. Compatriot Mark Hensby also started strongly to be in a tie for fifth at four-under, while Phil Tataurangi is a further two strokes back in a tie for 19th place. Nick Flanagan has made a disastrous start, shooting a seven-over par 79 to be in last place, with Luke Hickmott also well down the leaderboard at two-over par. New Zealand&aposs Brad Iles had a one-over par 73 to be in a tie for 55th place.
