Aust Mens Senior Am Entries Open

Entries are open for the Australian Men’s Senior Amateur Championship to be played at Spring Valley Golf Club on the Melbourne sandbelt from 9-11 October.

The event is played over 54-holes stroke play for players aged 55 years and over. The handicap limit is 9.4.

The championship is the pinnacle Australian event for male senior golfers and attracts the best players from around the country and overseas.

It is the first time Spring Valley Golf Club has hosted the Australian Men’s Senior Amateur, however it is no stranger to hosting National Championships, having hosted the Australian Boys’ Amateur in 2008.

Spring Valley was recently rated Australia’s 42nd best golf course in Australia by Golf Australia Magazine. Situated on the Melbourne sandbelt, its holes demand well shaped shots from the tees and the irons to the flags must be played with precision. The 6,167 metre event layout, par 71 will be a true test.

Defending champion Greg Rhodes (Vic) is sure to be a favourite, as will 2016 champion Kym Olsen (Vic). With Victorian players winning the last four Australian Senior Amateur titles, their compatriots would love to wrestle the trophy away from Victoria in 2018.

Entries close on 11 September.
