Australian Men’s Senior Amateur: Round 2 Report

ROUND2 SCORES ROUND 2 REPORT Kiwi Murray Martin moved into the outright lead after the second round of the Australian Men&aposs Senior Amateur Championship at Royal Queensland Golf Club. The New Plymouth member shot a second consecutive 74 to lead the championship by four strokes on 148 going into the final round on Thursday. Fellow Kiwi Frank Borren is in second place, a stroke behind Martin after a second consecutive 76. Concord member Paul Maslen is in third place after a second round 76. Fellow New South Welshman Michael Lee (Carnarvon) is in fourth place. A large group of 11 players are tied in 5th place. The final round begins on Thursday. ROUND 1 REPORT Penrith Golf Club member Sal Ballard joined Kiwi Murray Martin in a share of the lead at 2-over par 74 after the opening round of the Australian Men&aposs Senior Amateur Championship at Royal Queensland Golf Club. The pair holds a one stroke lead over Kiwis Arthur Parkin and John Sanders, Penrith Golf Club&aposs David Limbach, Pennant Hills&apos David Edwards and Peter Cherry (The Grand) – the best placed Queenslander at 3-over par. Kiwi pair Frank Borren and Michael Barltrop are tied at 4-over par in eighth place. Defending champion Queenslander Sam Christie opened with a 7-over par 79 while three-time champion Stefan Albinski (NSW) opened with a first round 80. The second round begins on Wednesday. The Australian Men&aposs Senior Amateur Championship is played from 3-5 September at Royal Queensland Golf Club.
