Australian radio call of Masters

In an Australian first, Golf Australia and radio station 1116 SEN will combine to broadcast the famed Masters Tournament from Augusta National Golf Club next week.

The station's afternoons presenter and Inside the Ropes co-host Andy Maher will lead the final two days’ coverage of the Masters as it reaches its weekend crescendo.

Maher will be joined by Inside The Ropes co-host Mark Hayes, of Golf Australia, and SEN's Tristan Foenander to bring all the live action to Australian golf fans.

With a rejuvenated Tiger Woods finding vintage form and top-ranked players such as Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler and defending Masters champion Sergio Garcia, alongside Aussies Jason Day, Marc Leishman, Cameron Smith and 2013 champ Adam Scott, this year’s Masters is shaping as one of the most exciting ever.

The 1116 SEN live call will be heard in Australia on Sunday 8 April (Australian time for round three) with the dramatic last day and all the excitement of the closing holes to be heard on Monday morning, 9 April.

Chief commercial officer and general manager 1116 SEN Sam Bingley said the station had a strong vision to deliver world-class sporting events live to local audiences.

“This is a watershed moment for us to broadcast one of the most famous golf tournaments in the world and confirms our commitment to bringing the best of live sport from Australia and overseas to Australian fans,” Bingley said.

In partnership with Golf Australia, the 1116 SEN Masters radio coverage will also be streamed live on golf.org.au.

Golf Australia Digital & Communications Director John Sutherland said the news was exciting for Australian fans.

“Live golf is a great radio product and we hope that 1116 SEN’s audience enjoys what promises to be one of the most exciting Masters in history,” Sutherland said.
