Australian Senior Teams Selected

Golf Australia has selected its senior teams to contest the upcoming Women’s Senior Trans Tasman Cup and the Asia-Pacific Senior Amateur Championship.

Jacqui Morgan (Captain, NSW), Kim Burke (NSW), Pauline Jeffery (ACT), Helen Pascoe (Vic), Josie Ryan (Qld), and Sue Wooster (Vic) will contest the inaugural Women’s Senior Trans Tasman Cup at The Grange Golf Club from 29-30 October.

The Ryder Cup-style event will see the six-woman strong Australian team go head-to-head with a six-woman New Zealand team.

With Burke, Jeffery, Pascoe, Morgan and Ryan being the top five players from the Golf Australia Women’s Senior Order of Merit, and Wooster being the current NZ Senior Match Play Champion, 2017 Canadian Women’s Senior Amateur champion and 2017 British Women’s Senior Amateur runner up, the team will be tough to beat on home soil.

It is the first time senior women have officially represented Australia.

Just prior to the Women’s Senior Trans Tasman Cup, a six-man Australian team will contest the Asia-Pacific Senior Amateur Championship at Tom Watson Golf Club in Japan from 17-20 October.

The team of Ken Brewer (NSW), Gordon Claney (Vic), John Davey (SA), Brad Dowling (Qld), Lester Peterson (NSW) and Greg Rhodes (Vic) will be a formidable force.

The players form the top six on the Golf Australia Men’s Senior Order of Merit and with nine current Order of Merit titles, as well as Rhodes the current Australian Senior Amateur Champion, the team will be a favourite to take the team title.

It is the first time Brewer, Dowling and Peterson have officially represented Australia in the event.

Golf Australia wishes both teams the best of luck.
