Australian seniors set for Thailand

The stage is set for the Australian Senior team of Stefan Albinski (NSW), Peter King (QLD), John Beaumont (SA), Greg Corben (NSW), Grahame MacDonald (QLD) and Rick Oliver (NSW) to tee off at the Asia-Pacific Senior Amateur Championship from 24-26 November at Bangkok Golf Club in Thailand. Albinski is the current Australian Senior Amateur champion and Australia s number one ranked senior golfer, in addition to holding four state and territory state senior titles. Beaumont is currently ranked number two, after seven top 5 finishes in Australian Senior Ranking events over the last 12 months. Oliver, the winner of the Australian Senior Amateur Championship in 2007 is Australia s third ranked senior golfer, courtesy of six top 5 finishes in recent events. MacDonald, King and Corben are also in Australia s top 6 ranked senior golfers. The Asia-Pacific Senior Amateur Championship is played over 54-holes stroke play, and comprises an individual event with the team event in conjunction. Albinski is the defending champion, while the Australian team will be fighting to win back the team title after losing it to New Zealand at last year s event. In each round, the total of the four lowest scores from each team constitutes the team score for the round. The three-day (54-hole) total is the team s score for the championship. The event is organised by the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation.
