Entries are now open for the Australian Women’s Senior and Mid Amateur Championships. Both will be played at the picturesque Royal Fremantle Golf Club in Western Australia. The Seniors Championship will be played from 26-30 October over 36-holes qualifying, followed by elimination match play. The leading 16 players qualify for the major championship, in addition to three age match play divisions. To keep things interesting, there will also be a Handicap Competition held in conjunction with the first two rounds of qualifying. The Interstate Stroke Teams Event will again be played in conjunction, with three players representing their state in the aggregate scratch competition. 2008 champion, and five time winner, Sylvia Donohoe will surely return to defend her title, while last year s runner up, Liz Smyth will be out to go one better in 2009. Local Ros Fisher, a semi-finalist from last year, is also sure to impress. The Women’s Mid Amateur Championship is in its third year, and will again be played over 54-holes stroke play, from 28-30 October. Previous winners Julie Swanson and Tammy Hall will hopefully be back to try and make it a double. The Mid Amateur players will enjoy a Welcome Cocktail Party on Tuesday evening with their Senior counterparts. Please click here for further information about the Women’s Senior Amateur.
