Having beaten Canada 4-3 on Saturday, the Australians lost by the same score line against South Africa on Sunday. Honours were shared in the foursomes as Ona and de Groot defeated Kim Williams and Henriette Frylinck 2&1 while Elliott and Santoso lost 3&2 to Bertine Strauss and Iliska Verwey. In the afternoon singles, the South Africa prevailed 3-2. Emma de Groot defeated Tiffany Avern-Taplin 3&2 while Minjee Lee beat Iliska Verwey 1up. In the foursomes, Lee and de Groot squared their match with Chantelle Cassidy and Julianne Alvarez while Ona and Santoso lost to World Number 1 & 3 pairing Lydia Ko and Cecilia Cho 3&2. In the afternoon singles the honours were shared with both teams winning 2 matches. Emma de Groot defeated Chantelle Cassidy 3&2 while Breanna Elliott had a convincing 7&5 win over Emily Perry. Minjee Lee continued her good form to square her match with World Number 3 Cecilia Cho while World Number 1 Lydia Ko defeated Ashley Ona 1up. They face stiff competition from both England and New Zealand with the Kiwis coming off the back of a victory in the International Team Trophy last week at Royal Portrush at last week s Ladies British Amateur championship. Great Britain has been the most successful team over the years. Holders of the handsome trophy since the 2007 tournament in South Africa, Great Britain has won seven of the 13 contests.
