Australians fourth after Queen Sirikit opening round

Heard opened with a even par 72 while Lee began the tournament with a 1-over par 73. Recent crowned Srixon Australian Amateur champion Stacey Keating finished with a 3-over par 75. The best two of three scores count in each round. Eighteen year old Zoe Brake fired a three under par 69 to lead the New Zealanders to a three-under par 141 in the opening round at Hamilton Golf Club. Thailand and Korea, who trailed New Zealand by one stroke after the opening round, are three strokes ahead of Australia and tied for second. Singapore are in fifth place on three-over 147, two shots ahead of Japan with one further shot back to China in seventh on six-over. The 32nd Queen Sirikit Cup involves 12 nations competing in the Asia Pacific teams championship over a 54-hole strokeplay competition with the two best of three scores counting each round. Korea, chasing a fourth straight victory in the Queen Sirikit Cup, had a solid start with Jung Eun Han, the individual winner at the event two years ago, and Ji Hee Kim, both shooting one-under 71s. The tournament finishes on Friday.
