Avondale aiming high in Women’s Major Pennant

Avondale has grabbed a vital away win against NSW in Pool One of Women’s Metropolitan Major Pennant.

Despite wins from the NSW pair of Gemma Dooley and Olivia Wilson, it was Avondale’s Grace Kim who sealed the result for the North Shore side with a hard-fought 2&1 win over Hannah Park in the last match of the fixture. Avondale’s other winners were Bella Kil and Kara Williams.

Concord made light work of Cabramatta at home, running out comfortable winners four matches to one. Antonia Gonzalez led the way for Concord with a 9&8 win, while Sophie Yip, Belinda Ji and Doey Choi also had comfortable wins.

In Pool Two, The Australian Golf Club continued on their winning way with a close fought three matches to 2 win over neighbours Bonnie Doon. Newly selected NSW Girls team captain Amy Chu was the pick of the women from the Australian with a 4&3 win over Sophie Cusack.

In the other pool match, The Lakes managed to get a win away from home against Castle Hill, three games to 2, with Tracy Davison leading the way with a big 7&6 win.

Division Two

St. Michael’s defeated Ryde-Parramatta 5-Nil. Stephanie Kyriacou is proving why she will be an asset for NSW in the 2017 Interstate Series matches with a big 8&7 win.

In the other games, North Ryde defeated Cumberland 4-1 with Lorraine Taylor and Philippa Ternes recording big wins, and in the final match, Penrith inflicted the first loss of the year on the ladies from Stonecutters Ridge 3-2. Penrith Tracey Warne got the mountain club off to a flyer with her 4&2 win.
