The prestigious Avondale Medal which attracts R&A World Amateur Ranking status was played for the first time over 72 holes. The field included elite players from NSW as well as overseas. Local Avondale member and State Junior Harrison Endycott set the pace early with two 65 s. England s number one amateur Ryan Evans who looked out of it after a 3rd round of 75, including a quad 8 on the 16th, proved his experience by carding a 66 in the final round to take the title with 11 under by one shot from Endycott, England s Harry Casey tied for 3rd with National Squad member Cameron Davis (Roseville). Evans was thrilled to have won another event in Australia, having also won the Lake Macquarie International and the Strokeplay at the Australian Amateur.
