A successful Golf SA Women’s Country Week was played from 24 to 26 July 2018 with 207 players competing across the four grades.
In the Silver (0-16.0 GA handicaps) event held in the Southern District at South Lakes Golf Club – Gale MacPherson from the Blackwood Golf Club was victorious to claim back to back Silver titles with a 36 hole total of (162). Reo Jenner (172) from the Clare Golf Club claimed the Country Championship.
Mary Sutherland from Royal Adelaide finished with the best nett aggregate with a score of 145. The winners of the 18 hole Handicap foursomes event were Rhonda Carter (The Vines) and Collette Sharpe (The Grange) with a score of nett 73.
The Bronze Salver (16.1-21.4 GA handicaps) hosted by Kadina Golf Club in the Yorke Peninsula District, was won by Julie Baird from Thaxted Park Golf Club with a 36 hole score of 166. Baird also won best nett aggregate with a score of 132.
Runner up in the Bronze Salver was Anne Middleton (170) from Coffin Bay and also took out the Bronze Country Championship. 18 hole Handicap foursomes winners were Marilyn Shute and Dianne Finch (Minlaton) with a score of nett 64.
Tumby Bay Golf Club in the Eyre Peninsula District hosted the Bronze Shield (21.5-28.0 GA handicaps) event with Marilyn Wildy from West Lakes taking the honours with a score of 187. The Best Nett Aggregate award was also taken out by Marilyn with a score of nett 139.
Tumby Bay locals Sally Curtis and Suzanne Cave claimed the 18 hole Handicap foursomes event with a score of nett71.5 on their home course.
Crystal Brook Golf Club in the Northern District hosted the Bronze Plate (28.1-45.4 GA handicaps).
Evelyn Alderman from Willunga took out the Plate by one point ahead of local Crystal Brook member Beverley Stringer who had 80 points and 79 points respectively.
Winners of the 18 hole handicap foursomes eventwereBeverley Stringer and Kay Nicholson (Crystal Brook) with nett score of 71.
In the Country v Metro Teams Event, the country team were victorious across all divisions.
– Silver: Country 1007 gross, Metro 1012 gross
– Bronze Salver: Country 894 nett, Metro 939 nett
– Bronze Shield: Country 974 nett, Metro 982 nett
– Bronze Plate: Country 366 points, Metro 289 points
