63 competitors from all over Australia teed it up in this year's edition of the Commonwealth Senior Amateur, forming the third event of the August Senior Sandbelt “Swing”.

A windy afternoon greeted the players, continuing from the last two days weather that Melbourne provided. Conditions created a challenge for all who took to the fairways of the par 73 layout, which again was presented in beautiful condition.

After taking home Kingston Heath’s title yesterday, Kim Johnson (The National) fired a 3 over 76. Johnson finished one better than Geoff Charnley (Rossdale) who shot a 4 over 77.

Nett honours for the 2018 event went to Canberra tourist Geoff Besgrove (Yowani) who returned a nett score of 71. Geoff narrowly edged out Clifton Springs member Warren Binder by a single shot, after his 72 off a 10 handicap.

The senior group have a rest day tomorrow before returning to Huntingdale Golf Club on Friday.
