The NSW Women's Team have made it Back to Back Gladys Hay trophies with a stunning 5 1/2 to 1/2 demolition of Queensland in this afternoon's Final.
On a typical brisk late Autumn day where the wind played its part and the rain threatened, it was a red-hot NSW Team that waltzed away with the Championship at Royal Hobart Golf Club.
The match was a tight affair early, with the score in most of them not more than a hole either way through the first nine holes.
After turning for home, however, the Blues found their feet, a couple of the close matches were turned into decent leads, and those who were a hole or two down found their rhythm and started winning holes.
The brilliant but sometimes erratic Kelsey Bennett was the first match on the board for NSW. Her 5&3 over Lisa Edgar, retribution for her narrow one hole lost to the Queenslander on day two.
Sophie Yip, first out for NSW, battled away with her opponent, Lion Higo. Tenacious to the last, and determined to ensure she did her best, Yip prevailed one up.
Amy Chu, who was two down after 11 holes found form late, grabbed an impressive come from behind win, 2&1.
Stephanie Kyriacou, the anchor of the team, had a fight on her hands early on with Dee Dee Russell throwing everything at her early. The St. Michael's tyro is made of stern stuff and stepped it up a gear, before going on to win 4&2.
Australia's top-ranked female, Grace Kim put an emphatic line proceedings with a 3&2 win over the plucky Isabelle Taylor.
It was left to the seven-time representative Doey Choi to close out proceedings, and in a showstopping finish, Choi saved the best for last, holing a magical birdie putt for a well-deserved half against Queensland's number one, Cassie Porter.
"Surreal, it was like what the hell," an ecstatic Co-Captain Grace Kim said.
"I didn't know anyone's scores, and Doey's finish was unreal.
Asked about the feeling of knowing she had won the interstate series, Kim admitted she didn't have the words to describe what had happened.
"How am I supposed to put that in words? It's like amazing," she beamed.
