Bannockburn brilliant at Belvoir

Bannockburn came home strong in the final round to win the Victorian Men’s Country Teams Championship at Belvoir Park Golf Club today. The trio had a final round stableford aggregate total of 102 for a 296 total to pinch victory from Lang Lang on a countback. The team consisting of Andrew Green, Toby Sauni & Colin Gillett enjoyed the weekend, both on and off the course. Toby was the standout of the team with rounds of 42, 34 & 36.

In the individual events, it was Stuart Marshall (Beeac) with rounds of 35, 42 & 39 winning the 54 Hole title. Chris Roberts (Lang Lang) won the 36 Hole event (Saturday’s rounds), while Paul White (Mildura) obtained the 18 Hole event (Sunday’s round).

Belvoir Park, central Victoria’s best kept secret, was presented in fantastic condition. When a storm caused destruction across the course less than a week ago, there was some panic in preparing the course. However, the club rallied up numerous volunteers that all spent many hours cleaning up the course. Many positive comments were made across the weekend, particularly about the true roll of the greens.

Special thanks goes to those associated with the club. All played a significant role over the weekend and in the many weeks prior. The list includes bar helpers, course spotters & rakers, general volunteers, and of course the caterers. All meals, especially the roast dinner, was nothing short of exceptional and those involved should be congratulated.

The Championship, which is arguably one of the most enjoyable events on the calendar, will make its way to the North East with Mount Beauty to host in 2016.
