Monash Country Club's Nathan Barbieri has continued his solid form in North America, posting his best finish to date in The Rice Planters Amateur at Snee Farm Country Club in Charlestown, South Carolina.
The 21-year-old from North Ryde shot rounds of 71, 74, 68 and 66 to finish in a tie for third at nine under par, just four shots behind the eventual winner, Jonathan Brightwell.

Pennant Hill’s Andrew Richards finished at two under for the four rounds, while NSWGC's Zinyo Garcia and Killara’s Mark Panopoulos failed to make the third round cut.
The NSW contingent didn’t fare well at the Amateur Championship at Royal Aberdeen and Murcar Links which concluded over the weekend, with no one able to make the matchplay rounds.
Blake Windred did post an encouraging four under par 67 in his second round at Royal Aberdeen, however, and will be looking forward to this week’s European Amateur which will get underway on Wednesday at the Royal Hague Golf & Country Club.
Jordie Garner, at 19 over par, missed the cut at the Northeast Amateur Invitational at the Wannamoisett Country Club in Rhode Island.
