Barrenjoey week of Golf success

The Barrenjoey Peninsula Week of Golf has been run and won for 2016.

Almost 600 ladies from 50 clubs experienced some wonderful golf over seven courses – Bayview, Cromer, Long Reef, Manly, Mona Vale, Monash and Wakehurst.

The renowned competition has now grown to be the 2nd largest ladies tournament in the Southern Hemisphere. It is a national competition which caters for all grades of golf.

Winner of Div. 1 36 Holes Perpetual Trophy was Alizah Kendler from Avalon and winner of the 36 Holes Best Nett Overall was Cheryl Gilmour of Bayview. Both girls thought the tournament was well run and really enjoyed the opportunity to mix and form new friendships.

Other winners included Elizabeth Gregory (Monash), Winner Div. 2 36 Holes Nett, Barbara Oppl (Monash) Winner Best Nett Overall 18 Holes, Jennie Fogarty (Cromer) Winner Div. 3 36 Holes Nett, and  Ruth Charnell & Carolyn Wright (Wakehurst), The Foursomes Winners.

In addition to the wonderful golf, this year’s competition raised $9000 which will be donated to the Manly Women’s Shelter.

Julie Preston, President of the BWOG, expressed "thanks to the Committee and the participants for making our tournament another great success".  She said, “It’s so rewarding to hear from golfers like Robyn Lunn from Morisset who, with her friends have been coming to the BWOG for four years and have nothing but praise for every aspect of the week. We are looking forward to 2017 being another flagship event.”
