Yarra Bend was host today to the second Stuart Appleby Rookie Series event for the school holidays. 38 eager junior golfers were out in force when the crisp morning lifted to reveal a perfect autumn’s day.
Aryan Sharma capitalised on his solid form to take out back to back under 11 boys titles, the first coming last week at Yering Meadows. The 10 year old fired a very impressive round of one over-par 36 for the win. Ben Goodes returned the best nett score for the day with a fantastic 25 for top honours in the under 11 boys.
Aaron Tran notched out Corben Leong on a countback for first place in the under 15 boys section after the pair finished tied on a score of 40. Liam Constantine was too good in the nett section after a score of 28 from his 20 handicap.
In the under 11 girls Louise Baliton walked home with top honours with a score of 45 while Gracie Larsen was the best in the handicap section after a score of 33. Kayli Schenk also joined the girls on the podium after capturing the under 16 division with a round of 49 whereas Lyn Le was the best in the nett after a score of 29 this morning.
The next Rookie Series event will take place at Oakleigh Golf Club on Saturday 7 May – be quick not to miss out!
