All players hit off for round 2 this morning at 8:45am via a shotgun start. A frosty morning meant that the start of play was delayed by 15 minutes to allow some of the greens to thaw out a little longer. However, once the sun came out players were treated to another glorious day on the Bendigo Golf Course.
Chris Tatt (Buninyong GC) has blitzed the field after shooting a 5-under 67 in round 2 to finish 6-under overall and claim first prize in the men’s gross competition. Runner-up in this event was John Kelly (Metropolitan) who also recorded an excellent score of 3-over for the tournament. In the men’s nett competition, Gerard O’Sullivan (Bendigo GC) took advantage of his local knowledge and recorded a nett 140 from 36-holes. Mick Kaufman (Melton Valley GC) fell just short but claimed the nett runner-up prize with nett 141.
In the women’s scratch stableford event, Helen Pascoe (Buninyong GC) was too good in round 2 and finished with 62 points after 36-holes. Helen Leech (Neangar Park GC) also had a great tournament and finished with 53 points to finish runner-up. In the women’s stableford competition, Elizabeth Alston (Winchelsea GC) recorded a total of 70 points to win on a countback to Anna Castles (Yarrawonga Mulwala GC).
Thanks to all players for participating in what was an excellent event. A total of 81 players competed this year and we hope to see this grow even more next year. Next up on the senior calendar is The Victorian Senior Amateur at Bairnsdale GC and Lakes Entrance GC.
