Besley wins National Deaf Championship

Deaf Golf Australia were the proud hosts of the 20th Australian Deaf Golf Championships that was held at Thirteenth Bach Golf Links at Barwon Heads, Victoria on 16 to 20 January 2012. This was part of the Australian Deaf Games which included 16 sports such as netball, cricket, futsal, volleyball, etc. A great week was had by all. We had a record 44 participants in the Golf Tournament including 37 Men and 7 Ladies, from 5 states. Well done everyone on making the effort to attend these Championships. Lovely warm weather greeted those golfers, and 13th Beach Golf Links proved to be a tough but fair golf course. It is rare that golf is on front page at the Closing Ceremony. Well done to all involved. Players Number 6 – 8 will be announced in the upcoming months. Ladies : Maree Evans (NSW) and Jennifer Maric (Qld). Further players will be announced in the upcoming months. Seniors : Tony Klimek (WA) and Kevin Hayden (Qld). Further players will be announced in the upcoming months. It was also announced that the next Australian Deaf Golf Championships would be held at Perth, in October 2013. This will also be a selection tournament for the Australian Team to attend the 2014 World Deaf Golf Championships in Traverse City, Michigan, USA. Congratulations to everyone once again.
