Bettencourt holds on for NSW Amateur win

Western Australia&aposs Hayley Bettencourt held her nerve to win the final of the NSW Amateur Championship with a 4&3 victory at Twin Creeks Golf Club. Bettencourt, who played in the final group at the Australian Girls&apos Amateur Championship at Carbrook Golf Club in April, was 9up through the first 18 holes against Queenslander Ali Orchard and look en route to a comfortable victory. Orchard, fought back on the second 18 though to win five of the next nine holes to claw back towards parity. Bettencourt steadied the ship with nine holes to play and held on for the 4&3 win. En route to the final, Bettencourt beat former Australian Junior champion Cathleen Santoso, Singapore&aposs Charlotte Thomas and Pennant Hills member Aliza Huff.
