Infamously cold Ballarat treated the 60 participants of this years’ Eureka Senior amateur to nothing but pristine golfing conditions, under which Chris Tatt (Buninyong) and Kerrin Biddle (Thirteenth Beach) took out top honours for the events third running.
Overnight leader in the men’s gross section Chris Tatt capitalised on his local knowledge and 3 stroke lead to post another superb 3 under par 71 and claim the men’s gross title. Tatt’s performance was likened to champion racing horse “Winx” by runner up Ian McCleary (Kooringal) who posted consistent rounds of 73-74 to finish 9 strokes behind Tatt.
Kerrin Biddle (Thirteenth Beach) has taken out her first title for 2018, the Scratch Stableford champion was pleased to have held off to defeat friendly rival Helen Pascoe (Buninyong) in her home district. Biddle returned scores of 31 and 29 to seize victory by 4 points from the 2017 Order of Merit Winner.
Ignatius Duivenvoorden has added another win to his list of achievements, a nett 71 today was enough to keep runner up Greg Palmer (Buninyong) and the remainder of the field at bay. The Yarram member off a handicap of 15 this week finished with a 36-hole nett total of 135 to win by a mere 3 strokes.
An impressive 40 stableford points today has slingshot Noelle Hartnett (Rossdale) to the top of the leaderboard after finishing in 6th position at the conclusion of round1. A 36-hole total of 70 points gave her a 1 point victory over Marg Llewellyn (Bellarine Lakes) who had the best score of 36 points for the opening round.
The senior “circuit” moves across to Box Hill next on Friday 27 April for their 18-hole Senior Amateur event.
