Jill Blenkey (Newcastle) has won the Queensland Senior Women's Amateur Championship at Maroochy River Golf Club on the Sunshine Coast.
The New South Welshwoman won her final match 2&1 over opponent Nikki Haines (Moore Park).
In Wednesday's semi-final, Haines eliminated leading qualifier Jacqui Morgan (Monash) 2&1, as well as four-time Queensland Senior Women’s Amateur Champion, Wendy O’Connell (North Lakes), in the previous match.
Jill Blenkey eliminated last year’s champion and third place qualifier, Josie Ryan (Headland), in her first match 1Up. It was Blenkey’s continued consistency all week in the match play format that allowed her to remain undefeated and take out this year's event in stunning fashion.
Vicki Jones (Bribie Island) was victorious in Division 1 of the 55-64 years match play final, while Gwen Clutterbuck (Oxley) took out the Division 2 title.
In the over 65 age group, Faye Payne (Caloundra) proved too strong, winning 3&2 Division 1, and Division 2 was won by Maroochy River member, Clem Sutherland.
Congratulations must go to Maroochy River Golf Club for again hosting this year's event.
