Defending champion and four time winner Jason Perry (Vic) is one of the favourites in the Men’scompetition along with Lester Peterson (NSW) who was an Australian representative from 1987 to 1997. Former Australian cricketer Greg Blewett (SA) who represented South Australia earlier this year at the Australian Interstate Teams Matches is also a strong contender. In the Women’s event, 2011 champion Katrina Jones (Qld) will be back to defend her title while 2010 runner-up Kim Burke (NSW) will also be in the mix. Former Victorian State Team Member Sue Wooster will also be looking for her second Mid Amateur title to go with her victory in 2010. The State Teams Event played in conjunction returns, with each team represented by two males and one female. The Championships are in their sixth year, with the 2012 event sure to be one of the toughest over the Open Course at Moonah Links, the venue of the 2003 and 2005 Australian Open Championships. The event is played over 54-holes stroke play, for players aged 30 to 54 years.
